What are we reading? Unbowed by Wangari Maathai 

Wangari Maathai, born and raised in Africa was determined to get an education. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degree, and was the first woman to earn a PhD and to head a university department in Kenya before taking on the biggest Green Belt Movement that Kenya has ever seen. She earned a Nobel Peace Prize for her work, and served as Deputy Minister for the environment and conservation of natural resources. Maathai passed away in 2011. Read her story.
